About our Author: Dr. Joe

Dr. Joe is Joseph G. Jacko, MD.

Dr. Joe has been extremely fortunate to have trained and practice at some of the leading institutions in the country.   Dr. Joe now specializes in Age Management Medicine and is a physician with Cenegenics Medical Institute in Arlington, Texas.  Dr. Joe joined the Cenegenics team in August 2010.

Prior to joining Cenegenics, Dr. Joe practiced at the highly regarded orthopedic group, Steadman-Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas.  He practiced there for four years before returning to Dallas.

Originally from Ohio, Dr. Joe received his undergraduate degree in biology from Wittenberg University in 1982.  After graduating from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1986, Joe completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Mount Carmel Medical Center in 1989.

Dr. Joe was one of the first internist in the country to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship.   He completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship in 1990 at the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic, whose physicians were pioneers in the field of sports medicine.

After completing his medical training, Dr. Joe started his career at the world renowned Cooper Clinic in Dallas, Texas gaining his first exposure to the importance of exercise and nutrition in preventing disease and maintaining health.

Most of Dr. Joe’s career has been spent on staff at the Dallas Orthopedic Center (currently the Texas Orthopaedic Association) working with injured high school athletes and weekend warriors.  During that time Dr. Joe served as a physician for the Dallas Independent School District and as a volunteer physician at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Dr. Joe is also a certified fitness trainer through ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association).

Dr. Joe has given numerous talks and presentations on sports medicine, and health related topics. He has two chapters published in Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic: Sports Medicine Book.  He also holds a US patent on a footwear product.

To be on the leading edge of medicine Dr. Joe has found it frequently necessary to challenge conventional wisdom, which is why he is excited to be part of the Age Management Medicine movement.

In his free time Dr. Joe enjoys participating in a variety of sports and is an avid fan of college football, especially the team that dons the Scarlet and Gray.
